Qualification-based CALA Laboratory Assessor
(Canadian Association for Environmental Analytical Laboratories)

RABQSA and the Canadian Association for Environmental Analytical Laboratories (CALA ) have announced the establishment of an industry-specific laboratory accreditation assessor scheme aimed at providing recognition to assessors engaged in Canadian laboratory accreditation assessments based on ISO/IEC 17025.

The CALA Assessor certification scheme provides a benchmark for other industry-based schemes in North America, and provides a base for the development and improvement of assessment practices in Canada and beyond.

A minimum of four assessments in role of assessor

Education:
Tertiary Education in a scientific/technological discipline or equivalent

Work experience:
Five years of work experience in a technical field with two years in quality management, quality assurance, or quality  management system assessment related to laboratory activities

Employer and/or Accreditation Body


CALA Lead Assessor
(CALA -LS)

RABQSA certified Testing and Calibration Laboratory Competence Assessment Lead Auditor Training Course (or equivalent)

and

CALA Training

A minimum of 5 assessments using ISO/IEC 17025 while acting as assessor, with 2 assessments while acting as Lead Assessor.

Education:
Tertiary Education in a scientific/technological discipline or equivalent

Work experience:
Five years of work experience in a technical field with two years in quality management, quality assurance, or quality  management system assessment related to laboratory activities

Employer and/or Accreditation body, witnessed assessment report plus feedback from two laboratories assessed
