TPECS vs TCC

RABQSA certified training providers have the unique opportunity to offer not only the certified training courses that have gained industry recognition (e.g. QMS Lead Auditor), but also to be on the forefront of Competency-based training and examination.

Training providers are allowed to think 'outside the box' in their approaches to how knowledge is transferred and how competencies are examined. In particular, TPECS allows training providers to deliver and examine in whatever method they deem effective, from face-to-face instructor-led classes, to e-based self paced learning.

RABQSA certified training providers receive many benefits:

  • Certificates of Attainment are recognized by RABQSA as evidence of knowledge competency for the appropriate personnel certification scheme;
  • Listing on the RABQSA web site;
  • Participation in Training Provider Sub-Scheme Committee meetings;
  • Network with other training providers and share best practices;
  • Evaluators located throughout the United States and the Asia-Pacific region;
  • Recognition in RABQSA’s e-Momentum newsletter;
  • Worldwide recognition;
  • Be the first to hear of updates in the industry; and
  • Involvement in the development and refinement of criteria, competencies, and processes.

TPECS has been established to reflect contemporary learning and assessment practices, industry expectations and, above all, demonstrate that applicants achieve the level of competence required for RABQSA personnel certification. Any applicant for a personnel certification scheme must be deemed competent in the knowledge and skills required for that scheme. Certification to the TPECS criteria principally requires a training provider to:

  • Establish an examination for each competency, with a marker's guide that provides sufficient detail in order to ensure objectivity
  • Utilize competent examiners
  • Maintain effective supporting administrative processes

TCC, previously known as course accreditation, certifies that a training provider is able to provide effective and appropriate training, which must:

  • Cover the necessary subject in satisfactory depth
  • Be effectively presented
  • Measure the student's comprehension and performance
  • Initial approval of the training provider's materials (e.g. course manual, examination and marker's guide)
  • Evaluation of the training provider's administrative system
  • Evaluation of a course offering
