Professional Development

Professional development encourages continuous enhancement of your professional knowledge and competencies, while learning and maintaining contemporary skills. Professional Development helps you to remain abreast of developments and advancements within your profession, while adding credibility to your professional status.

Continued Professional Development (CPD) is a requirement of maintaining certification within all qualification-based personnel certification schemes. A record of your professional development activities is required upon re-certification, and can be filed on the Professional Development Log.

The below list provides examples of activities that can be recognized:

  • University or Technical College courses
  • Training courses provided either in-house or externally
  • Attendance at conferences, seminars or workshops
  • Association meetings
  • Organized site visits/study tours
  • Participation in relevant committees and working groups
  • Presentations at conferences, seminars or workshops
  • Published articles
  • Training course instruction
  • Developing training course material
  • Documented research
Submission of CPD requires evidence of completion of the activity (e.g., verification signature on the CPD log, certificate of completion, attendance/signature sheet).
